Should I wear my hearing aids at the airport when passing the metal detector?

shy girl asked:

I’m really embarrass about wearing my hearing aids, and would like to know that if at the metal detector, something will happen such as it may start beeping quite loud, and in front of everyone I will have to pull out my hearing aid?

A few times that my hubby and I have gone to Target it would beep when we would go in and out, and we would always wonder why, finally we came to the conclusion that it was my hearing aids.

What should I do about that? I have the digital ones-completely in the canal. Anyone, had problems with wearing them while passing there? Or should I take off and put them in my purse, and then put the purse somewhere else? Thanks.

Wear them through. If the detector beeps, they’ll ask you if you have all the metal off of you, and you can them tell them, quietly, you have hearing aids. They’ll pass a hand held wand over your head, and usually be satisfied. Other passengers might think you have braces on your teeth, seeing them “wand” your head.
